About Me
A Brief History of Me by Lyon
A long time ago, there was a fellow by the name of ithilienranger732. He stumbled across the Wars of Arda mod site while surfing the BFME map community, and immediately joined up. He had a lot to say... and, within a few months, had surpassed everyone on the site as far as postcount went.
Of course, he wasn't content with just one site for too long. He was an adventurous lad. So, one day, he joined one of the other BFME modding communities out there: Revora's The 3rd Age. For several months, he was content with just that. He and another couple people founded the BoN modding forums on an informe server. As General Glozelle, he was one of the reigning admins.
Of course, he realized that hanging around BFME modding forums wasn't doing much for hiseternal soul writing skills, so he branched out into the wider Revora, eventually stumbling upon the division currently known as the Ziggurat of Doom... but formerly known as RPG Frontier, administrated by Nowe.
It wasn't his first RP ever... in fact, it was his second, the first being a thread known as "Elrond's Message" on the Council of Elrond board. The single thread gave him hunger for more, so the RPG Frontier division was perfect for him.
For another few months, he participated in various RPs on and off-site, even founding one of his own. Then, in that summer, when Nowe stuck it to the system and left Revora, Ranger (now known as Athos) went with him, although he didn't leave The 3rd Age or the Ziggurat entirely behind.
At the new RPG Frontier, Ranger decided that being outgoing was the best policy, so hepassive- aggressively marketed RPG Frontier on all the sites he was on. Eventually, his zeal for expansion caught the notice of the site admins, and he was offered the position of Lieutenant-Ambassador. He accepted, of course.
In the meantime, there were troubling things going on for him on other sites. First of all, his grades weren't quite up to snuff, so he spent a couple of weeks away from the site working to get them back up. Meanwhile, at Wars of Arda, his first site, a... minor dispute was underway.
Eventually, this minor dispute came to a head in a massive flamewar. Ranger and the other fellow were both warned, although this was more of a formality than an actual end to the fighting. Some secret sniping went on, was stopped, and then the other fellow wrote A Tragic History of Ranger's Treachery.
Ranger laughed. Hard. Especially at allegations that he ran an inter-forum crime ring.
Of course, those were absolutely true.
So, once more, he found himself at RPGF. And there he has stayed, occasionally revisiting his old haunts. After all, he was a nostalgic man.

Terin was somewhat taken aback, and more than a little embarrassed by her assumptions. "No, I didn't come for orders," she said. The captain followed the Jedi into the room, sitting down somewhat stiffly on the nearest chair. "I just thought that, seeing as we'd be serving together, we should get to know each other better."

Reed stumbled up onto the mess deck several moments later, his hair dripping wet. He pushed his goggles back up onto his forehead, shaking himself like a dog. "Still a bit damp down there, but it was probably my fault for tripping into it." He grabbed a slice of pizza and started on the crust. "Appleton Drive's in place, as you may have noticed, but we'll want to stop to secure it properly as soon as we can." He picked up a beer and downed a quarter of it in one go.
"You didn't give me nearly enough time," the engineer said with a somewhat accusing note in his voice. "What I do is art, not brute work, and art takes time." He took another swig of beer, and added reflectively, "Which you didn't give me nearly enough of." Reed frowned at the beer bottle. "I said that before, didn't I? Ah well. Cheers for another bloody escape." He raised his bottle a third time and drained it.

Lina shrugged. "I suppose that all of us are a bit distracted right now. That fight onboard Guardian was something, wasn't it? I haven't gotten more than a few words out of Terin since." The sniper shook her head. "She's torn up about all of the casualties. Thinks it was her fault. Frankly, I think it was a miracle that we managed to survive at all."
Lina paced over towards the door. "Still, it's best not to dwell on these things. Race you back!"

Republic Starbase at Taris. 277 days after Geonosis.
Terin straightened the collar of her uniform and examined herself critically in the mirror. She sighed irritably as she fastened her rank insignia on her lapel. Bloody uniform won't sit straight...
"Why are you bothering with that?" asked Derad. "She's just a regular Jedi Knight, rank of general or no. Hells, Fen and Lina beat her in a sparring match, and she didn't Force-slam the against the wall. She's not going to zap you with mystical lightning just because your medals are lopsided." He wiggled his fingers menacingly.
The captain rolled her eyes. "Easy for you to say. You're not the captain of a ship officially meeting her colleague for the first time. Now that General Casil has been assigned to RAS Guardian, we'll need to get to know each other much better."
"So buy her a drink and have a nice discussion over that," said Derad. "There's no need to dress up."
"Unlike people who have been clomping around in a medical tunic--or less--the good captain actually cares about her appearance," Lina supplied from her chair. Derad grinned at her over his shoulder.
"It's the "or less" part that you particularly enjoy," he shot back. "Everyone knows that no Alderaanian woman can resist the good looks and charm of a Corellian pilot..."
Terin walked briskly out of the room before the conversation escalated, shaking her head. I will never understand those two. As she headed down the hall, she mentally ran over what she would say to Casil. I need to make sure she knows I'm still in command of the ship, but in a way that doesn't offend her... This would be so much easier if I understood the blasted Jedi!
Reaching the door to the Jedi's quarters, Terin tentatively raised her hand. Taking a deep breath, she knocked firmly.

I try to avoid including poetry when I'm writing simply because, if you're not really good at it, it sounds bloody terrible. (see: Eragon)

@ 8-bit: You must be referring to those people. They were the reason I stopped taking poetry class, and yet they still caught up to me in the end...
