"That may or may not be my fault," Tri'tas said, as his shield contracted down to a cloak again. "While you were starting that bar fight, I was busy making my living, and my particular living isn't exactly legal." He continued, as he decided to turn his cloak into a jacket.
"Anywho, when the guards got called for your fight, my work was cut short." he finished.

Alec watched the guards run and frowned... something wasn't right... he had seen the man who had used the fire orb. They were being chased for another reason... Alec wondered if it didn't have something to do with Takeshi and his spouse. Alec cast the thoughts aside and rejoined the small group.
"Nice to have them off our backs for the time being."

"That better not have been!" Anikus joked. "I... suppose we're all here though."
After a quick head count, which came back with everyone healthy (though a bit run-down, considering the trip through the stormdrains), Anikus gestured to the group to walk as well as talk. It was almost morning now, with the more industrious of the city behind them to be awaking from their slumber in roughly an hour or two. The group's day would be far less ordinary; around them, the forest reduced visibility, but it was overall a peaceful place and a well-deserved breather. The woods extended for miles, the scholar reasoned, and so, provided they didn't lose their way, it would be an excellent way to get to the Causeway to the southern trade-states--far outside the grasp of Stormguard's trogs, and towards the original plan he had had for the expedition.
As the group rested in the woods, a fire was set and watch posted.

Had an extremely curious escapade today. My usual tavern trawlings have resulted, through a series of not-all-too-unfortunate events, with my banishment from the city of Stormguard, along with my companions! After a particularly violent altercation in defense of a bar patron, I've found myself on the run from the Trogs, along with seven companions: Takeshi and Sakura, foreigners whom I shall have to grill for trivia and information some day, and to whom I owe at least one saving throw; Grimlain, a somewhat unwilling bystander who was dragged into matters against his will and better judgment; Alec, a mysterious figure who likely saved us from a group of scum; Telchi, a swordsman who started this entire escapade; and finally Kaethe, whom we were trying to save. There's also Tri'tas, a rogue who may or may not be responsible for just how bad this whole episode got, but I digress.
My memory of the events in the tavern is sharper than most, for I was mostly sober. Telchi stood up for Kaethe after she was berated by a very, very unfortunate drunkard; in light of this, a brawl started which we quickly ended--dare I say with too much force? In any case, we found ourselves on the run quickly, then from the Trogs, who for some reason saw it fit to pursue us quite strongly. If I do say so myself, I am proud of my decision to lead us through the storm drains, though if any other member of the group reads this I shall have to also admit that I am not known for choosing the easiest of routes, and I apologize most sincerely. In any case, a guard unit on patrol outside the walls had heard of us--no doubt there is something shady going on here, as the guards do not use Magispeak for petty crimes. In any case, through a display of fire and awe, with the help of Tri'tas' shield, we made it out without a scratch. Perhaps his thievery committed to the guards' vigor? Or Takeshi and Sakura's origins? My red cloak? Or were we framed for something else? Regardless, it is behind us now.
We're headed to the southern trade city-states! I have heard of some particularly lucrative stories on some of the islands even further down under; in the sense of money, to keep some of these party members in line, as well as to satisfy cravings for Knowledge.
