Hi, I am a refugee from Indo Tenbuki's board...seems he is closing his down, and that is a real shame, I like the guy a lot, even met him in person earlier this year when I was passing thru Miami.

Mostly, for those here who do not know me...I am into RPG's, and most specifically, Dragon Quest.

I currently have nearly 1200 hours logged on DQ9.  but I STILL don't have the level of completion I want in order to say I am done with the game.

I'm also replaying DQ6 on my Dingoo device which runs an SNES emulator...so what I am playing there is the NoPrgress translation of the original DQ6....not the DS version by Arte Piazza, although I do own the cart already...and, of course, also have the game on my Acekard.

Just recently upgraded the DS into DSiXL...still own 4 DSLites...for the purpose of always having a DS system with an operating system that can't be adulterated...so that I can always flash cards every time Ninty issues a defeat.

Just so everyone understands, I DO NOT use Acekards for piracy.  I use them for convenience (not having to change out carts or carry a bunch of teeny little carts with me) I own the legit cart for every game I have.  The only exception to this is that I have things on it which can no longer be obtained on the open market...things like old Atari games, and MAME games.  However, in the heyday of Atari, I owned all those games, too.  I also emulate NES, SNES, and Genesis games...I own, or at one time bought, the legitimate games for those...so I do not consider it piracy.

I certainly do not burn games for other people to sell to them, nor do I share ROM's...at least not publicly.  In private, I can point people to some of my sources, but they are already out there and usually pretty well known anyway.

At any rate, hoping to find a nice community here where I can discuss all manner of video games, RPG's as well as action-type games.  I enjoy various homebrew games, although I have no ability to program them myself.  also enjoy some RPGMaker games, again, I have no real talent as far as programming there!  I tried, and did not get very far.

Anyway, this is already more than I intended to type, so I am just going to sit back and see what kind of community we have here, and hopefully make a few friends with common interests.

Lulz~ Dragon Quest otaku, that's interesting. I've played some early Dragon Quest games, and find them interesting enough, but I'm not obsessed with them at all, I do love SNES RPGs though.

Earlier this year, I would have said that 1200 hours in a video game was a bit excessive, but I logged upwards of 100 in Skyrim in one week alone, so...

As far as JRPGs go, I play Fire Emblem for the win :p

Nice to see a gaming fan around here. That type of RPGs isn't exactly what we do around here, but we'll get around to that later. For the time being, welcome to the site. I or one of the other admins can field any questions that you might have, as long as you don't mind playing second fiddle to Skyrim. :p

An RPG fan, eh? Awesome.

Unlike Lyon, I am not obsessed with Skyrim, thus I have a higher availability rating, at least in terms of answering questions.

I don't really get much spare time for games anymore, but I do enjoy playing when I get the chance.

In any case, welcome to RPG-F. :p

Although I concur with Lyon that these aren't exactly the same RPs you're talking about, I greet you to our humble corner of the internet regardless.

I'm Durandal, local furry and brony of the forums, and resident rampant AI. As for your interests, I'm considering going into the Video Game Design business, and don't mind spending hours upon hours playing games, so I have a feeling we may have a tad in common.

Thanks for the welcome.  I'm sure as time goes on and I read other people's posts, I'll get a feel for what goes on here.  In the meantime, I hope everyone does not mind the occasional bragging/progress report post on my progress with various games...for now, DQ9 and DQ6.

Like I said I am not really a programmer/developer, but I do very much enjoy games...mostly the old-school games.  I don't really get into the new-fangled games...I'm 40 years old, and so re-living the games of my youth is much more satisfying to me.  You young'uns will understand when you get to my age, lolz.

P.S. Yeah, DQ9 is new...not of my youth PER-SE...but it is a continuation on a series that started in my youth.  The original Dragon Warrior goes back to the 1980's.

Holy shit, I can tell you like your Dragon Quest!  Never played it myself, but it seems interesting.  I was more so stuck in the Final Fantasy route there (IV ftw).

Anyways, welcome to the site!  I think you'll find it easy fitting in here.  Most of us love video games, and I'm a fan of old school gaming myself.  Not sure if you're familiar with the RPing we have here, but there are plenty of guides to help you out if you wish to become involved with such a thing.

Welcome to RPGF! I'm Redcoat, local Administrator of Evil. I can answer any questions you may have, and my MSN, if you use MSN, is masterpyth[@t]hotmail[d0t]com. Feel free to contact me. Also, through me you can get everyone else's MSN. We do a lot of chatting on there as a group, and you're free to join in as long as you don't mind high levels of crazy on occasion.

We're not really a video games board, but we don't mind that sort of thing (we do have a general discussion section). For my part I have very little experience with RPG video games. Also, I must say, you're by far the oldest member we have (oldest active, at very least)--most of our memberbase is in their early 20s or earlier. It'll be interesting to get your perspective on things, especially if you decide to get into text RPGs like we specialize in.

I hope to see you around. Do enjoy your stay!

You specialize in text RPG's?  How too cool is that, I happen to administer and run a site for Legend of the Green Dragon, a text role playing game.  If anyone is interested, please let me know, I can give you guys the address.

I gathered most of the membership would be in their twenties or younger, this is not uncommon on video game/RPG boards.  I'm rather accustomed to being on e of the oldest members.

To be honest, I'm not sure how you go about chatting on MSN.  I only fairly recently got a handle on Facebook.

Seems I got a lot to learn here, so I hope folks are patient, and I'll see what I can find out and learn.

Damn school and work, eh?  I hear that.  You should try starting your own business if you want to know what it's like having no spare time, lol
