Fenrir took of his helmet, revealing a scarred face, short, dark hair, and pale eyes. He grinned slightly. "So I can blame this one on you, captain?"

Fenrir grinned, however the grin melted into a frown as his communicator beeped. He studied the message. "Ah, Captain, Lina says General Casil was at the quarters this morning. Acquired the repair status and will forward us updates."

Fenrir studied his helmet for a bit then grinned. "Probably the first time you've gotten to see my ugly mug, Captain."

Terin was taken aback when Fenrir removed his helmet, to say the least. She laughed slightly when he pointed that out. "Indeed. Still, we've only been working together for... what, six months? I guess I'm surprised that you trust me enough to let me see your face." She pressed a button on the side of her own helmet, bringing up the message. "Ah, the repair schedule. According to this, there's two more weeks minimum until the Guardian is flight-ready. I hope they can spare us for that long."

She motioned to Fenrir to follow her. "So, what impression do you have of our new Jedi General? At the least, I'm glad she's not the authoritative type. She said herself that she doesn't think she has the experience necessary to command the Guardian's forces."

Fenrir scratched the back of his head, his helmet in the crook of his arm.

"I dunno. She dueled with Lina and I. She claimed to be a much better fighter than leader, yet we won. I think she's distracted somehow. Certainly doesn't look like she's keeping the usual Jedi calm, in any case. I think she was notably more capable when she pulled our asses from the fire."

Fenrir glanced down the corridor. Despite the usual action of this hour, it was empty. "Huh...can't say I've seen her stay in one place for more than an hour, either. I don't think she likes staying here."

Fenrir started to shrug but stopped half-way. "Maybe that's why she's so...off-kilter. Still odd to see a Jedi who prefers action to meditating. What's your guage on her, if I may be so bold?"

"She's a good person, but I agree, she seems a bit... unfocused. Almost unusually so, even for a non-Jedi. Nonetheless, she seems stable. I would trust her at my back in a fight, but not to command me. Perhaps with time she will choose the path of a commander, but then again, perhaps not."

The two of them headed to the mess hall, Terin greeting the personnel that passed them. After a quick dinner, Terin headed back to her quarters and went to sleep.

~~~
Republic Starbase at Taris. 284 days after Geonosis.
The relative calm of the early morning was interrupted by the loud ringing of the alarm. Terin sat bolt upright in her bunk, grabbing for her comlink. "This is Captain Terin. What's going on?" she said, voice still slurred with sleep.
"CIS forces are incoming," said a clone's voice. "One Lucrehulk, four frigates. All fighter squadrons are being scrambled."
Another voice joined the conversation: Master Vey, with the characteristic calm of a Jedi. "Captain, there is very little that you yourself can do to help in the battle effort. We're dispatching a Venator and three Acclamators to defensive positions, and letting the station's own firepower do most of the work."
"Who will be commanding the Guardian's squadrons?"
"Blue Flight will be led by Lieutenant Derad. General Casil will lead Grey Flight."
"Understood," said Terin. She put down the comlink and sat down heavily on her bunk. I hope that Derad is all right...
Casil, mediating during the early hour, got to her feet quickly.
Orders came through her commlink. "Understood. Casil out."
Casil grabbed her lightsabers then rushed to the hangar. She greeted the rest of Grey Flight quickly. Her seemingly usual bored expression looked considerably more energetic, almost as if she was waiting for a fight.
"Time to make some scrap metal."
Casil noted that most of the clones were using ARC-170's. A few V-19 Torrents were scattered here and there.
Casil and the rest of Grey Flight exited the hangar bay. Casil glanced at the incoming force.
"Looks like a heavy strike team. Keep your eyes peeled, clones."
"Acknowledged, General," Grey Two replied, his voice made mechanical by his helmet. "We'll form on your wings and await orders."
"Grey Leader, this is Blue Leader," said Derad, his voice calm. "Advise that we coordinate with each other in order to maximize efficiency."
"So many big words," drawled Venom. "Are you sure that you can handle them properly? And don't you tell me to shut up, Zark, because we're going into battle. I do what I please."
Casil shook her head. "Optimal, Blue Leader. I suggest we attack the flanks with hit an run attacks. Force them into the most firing arcs of the station as possible."
Casil looked over the enemy formation. It would be possible, but... "Vary your angles of attack! we've got to make ourselves look bigger!"
Casil flicked a switch, opening comms to the station. "General Casil to Taris Command. I advise you hit the enemy with comms and radar countermeasures. If they can't see us easily and can't call for help, we might be able to wing this!"
"Acknowledged, Grey Leader. Grey Flight, orders are weave in and out. Make us look like a full squadron." Derad smiled slightly. "Given the sizes of some of your egos, that shouldn't be hard."
"Right you are, sir," said Grey Four.
Another voice headed over the comms: Terin was monitoring the battle on a holodisplay. "You've got three squadrons of vultures, one squadron of tris inbound. They're fairly spread out, but you need to take care of them quickly if you can. There are more inbound."
A clone's voice spoke next. "Whirlwind Leader to Guardian Squadron. We'll handle this, General. Take Blue Flight and move to flank them from above."
((OOC: I thought Casil had Grey Squad? I'll run with blue for now.))
Casil nodded, though the expression was lost on all but her.
"Blue Squadron, fire a few rounds, move, fire a few more. Try not to synchronize."
Casil lead Blue Squadron above and slightly behind the lead vultures, then lead the first wave of attack. As expected, the clines followed orders diligently, and green blasts soared through space from mnay different vectors.  The clones' skill became evident when they seemed to attack continously, two or three firghters firing here, while two others moved and opened fire. Casil flitted in and out, sending the vultures azure energy.
She didn't seem too worried about being caught. After all, Casil was flying the only Aethersprite in the system.
((You have Grey Flight, which is one half of Guardian Squadron's eight fighters. The order to take Blue Flight implied assuming direct control of the full squadron.))
"Affirmative, General Casil." Derad switched back to closed comms. "Zark, get ready to fire a charge," said Derad, steering his ARC in a wide upward arc. "On my signal, I want you to drop it in the middle of them."
"Acknowledged, Blue Leader," said the front gunner. "Target locked on."
Derad waited until he was almost directly over the vultures, then threw his craft into a steep dive. Vultures flashed by on either side. "Jettison charge now!" he shouted. "Venom, let 'em have it!"
((Heheh. "Assuming Direct Control." I hate that phrase.))
The droids scattered away from the explosive. Several were caught in the blast. Casil smiled.
"Blue Sqaud, right flank! Grey, hard on my flank! We're hitting their left!"
Casil swept in, slightly above and to the left of the droid fighters. Grey flight fired into the droids, sticking with the same maneuver as before, firing a few bursts, then moving and following up with another round.
"Keep the pressure on!"
From her position on the command deck, Terin noted the positions of the enemy frigates. They were moving upwards to flank the space stations defense ships from above. "RAS Victory, recommend that you fall back towards the space station. Enemy ships are moving towards you at an attack vector."
"Acknowledged, Taris Command," came the human captain's voice over the comms. "We'll have to engage those frigates sooner or later, or they'll overwhelm us."
"I have an idea that may work," said Terin. "If we weaken the shields on one part of the station, the enemy will see it as vulnerable and attack."
"They might see it as a trap," pointed out Master Vey, looking over her shoulder at the hologram of the battle.
"Droids aren't that intelligent," said Terin. "If we can draw them in and make them commit, we can take down at least two of the frigates."
"Your plan is reckless, but it may be just what we need," said Vey. "Very well. Lower the shields on the right wing of the station, and pull all fighters back to the defense. They may chase us more eagerly if we appear to be in retreat."
